Fulcrum

The dictionary defines it as: "the support on which a lever turns", "one that supplies capability for action", or "If you say that someone or something is the fulcrum of an activity or situation, you mean that they have a very important effect on what happens".

Today's HR landscape is filled with words like Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Talent Development, Talent Engagement and so forth. If Talent is at the surface, and is what we usually measure, is there something else beneath the surface that actually matters?

Talent is easy to measure and predict, its study is at least a hundred years old. There is enough material out there that codifies the top attributes of top performers across different fields and industries. Companies spend time and money building talent measurement because Talent does matter.

Keep Luck aside for now. Some say, Talent and hard work are key to success. Well, there are talented lazy people and less talented hard-working people. Both are "successful". Then there are those with neither the Talent nor the hard work who are also successful. You say they are lucky? Sure!

At Rise, we believe that Attitude defines Altitude. Interdependent teams are made of people pulling their weight, consistently and demonstrating mutual reliance that at its very core is symbiotic. They leverage capabilities for results that far surpasses what one alone could do - but benefits all anyway. Some people are like this. Some people when put together form teams like this. Some teams come together to keep the organizations going, in this manner. We see Interdependence in nature while it might not come naturally to us as a collective.

The individual, eventually forming the collective, needs to have "the basics in place”. Our experience with people and systems have helped distil Five Key "Attitudes" with 15 "Measurable Traits" that function as "fuel to the fire”. We call them the Five Attitudes of the Catalyst and are applicable to all levels of the organization. At work and at home as well. These Attitudes come much before Talent or hard work or smart work or luck. If these are in place, usually the individual is built to adapt, built to last. These Attitudes are the Fulcrum within the individual.

The depth of these Attitudes determines how high you will bounce when you fall - and to what extent you are in charge of life and everything else in it and what you make of it.

Interested? We can show you how it is done.

At Rise T&D we have a method that facilitates the integration of the Five Attitudes through our flagship Learning Experience: the Culture Catalyst Program© (CCP). We use shock & awe, and examples from everyday life to show you how it’s done.

While the program is strongly recommended for C-suites and Upper Management folks, it is equally relevant for current, emerging, future leaders and high potential employees. The details are on our website - Contact us today.
